Miniature donkeys are native to the Mediterranean Islands of Sicily and Sardinia.

Donkeys do not usually mind the cold, but they dislike the rain. A shed, open on one side and well bedded with dry straw will do for a shelter.

They can survive on good quality hay alone, pure grass hay being the best choice for donkeys.
